Pavani (b. 2002) is an Immersive Light Artist. Engineer turned Artist , she now calls herself an "Imagineer" since her practice blends art & science to creating dreamlike, immersive worlds that transform between day and night - creating the most surreal magic seen within a painting.
After two years of formal art training, my work started to feel repetitive and the process stopped feeling like discovery. So I began creating things for myself again, just as I did when I played as a child.
I made little houses from wooden sticks, played with clay, and built an entire hot-air balloon out of an Amazon box. I wasn't thinking about whether any of it was important or whether it would become art. I was simply making things because I wanted to see them exist.
It was the return to childhood that changed everything ……
Somewhere in that play, I started dreaming again. What if I could see real stars twinkling inside my paintings? What would magical, blue bioluminescent water look like if I could actually bring it to life?
These questions became the beginning of what is now called Immersive Light Art.

And that is what my work stands for—to appreciate the child within us and to hold on to the magic within us, rather than abandoning it when we grow up. Because what are we without magic anyways ??
As children, the world felt limitless. A garden could become a jungle, a bedroom could become a castle and an afternoon with friends could turn into an adventure. We kept trying new things. Took on new challenges even if they scared us. We used to dream as big as we possibly could—bigger than what the world told us to.
Perhaps the missing piece for many of us is not another lesson in how to work harder, but remembering how to dream like we did before we learned to doubt ourselves.

My paintings exist in that space between childhood and adulthood—a place where imagination meets experience, where dreams meet determination and where the ordinary world becomes Neverland. My work acts a medium to reignite and cherish that lost magic within all of us and to experience how powerful that magic can be and the wonderful things that it can create when combined with the tools of the grownup world.
